Jordan's King Abdullah II Bin al-Hussein looked "proud" as he saluted the Military Tattoo yesterday (18.08.10).
The 48-year-old king - who was invited to take part in the annual event - was pictured at the procession in Edinburgh with his wife Queen Rania and daughter Princess Iman by his side.
Standing in full military uniform, the monarch saluted as the Royal Jordanian Army Band passed in front of him as they took in the Royal Military Tattoo, which is celebrating its diamond anniversary after it was first staged in 1950.
Tattoo chief executive Major General Euan Loudon said it was "an honour" to welcome the royal couple.
An onlooker said: "The king looked very proud as the Royal Jordanian Army passed by him. It was the first time a sovereign from the Middle East has attended the Tattoo."
The event runs for three weeks on Edinburgh Castle's esplanade and attracts hoards of tourists to the Scottish city.
It is the king's second visit to the UK in two months after he met with British Prime Minister David Cameron in June.
The 48-year-old king travelled over to London to meet with the new political leader - who assumed office on May 11 - to "reaffirm" his country's relationship with Britain.
