King Juan Carlos' Obama visit

Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia are to receive a visit from US president Barack Obama's family at their holiday home in Mallorca.

Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia are preparing for a visit from the family of US president Barack Obama.

The elderly monarch and his wife are to welcome Obama's wife Michelle and their youngest daughter to their lavish holiday home on the island of Mallorca on Sunday (08.08.10).

Michelle and nine-year-old Sasha arrived for their summer break in southern Spain yesterday (04.08.10) by motorcade and are said to be staying at the luxury Hotel Villa Padierna in the popular holiday resort of Marbella.

This is set to be one of the king's first formal visits after he went through a cancer scare in May, and has since been recovering at the family's Madrid palace.

However, in June, the 72-year-old royal looked in better spirits when he welcomed the Spanish football team to the palace following their World Cup victory.

The "overjoyed" king personally greeted each of the players and was presented with a red team jersey signed by the entire squad.
