Charles' garden shop

4 months ago 06th Mar 14:00

Britain's Prince Charles is set to open a shop selling his range of gardening products a few miles from his Gloucestershire residence.

The outlet will be situated in Tetbury town centre - just minutes from Charles' Highgrove House - and sell various equipment from Charles' Duchy Originals outdoors collection, including gardening gloves, twine and a £45 trowel and fork set.

The prince - who owns the vast Duchy of Cornwall estate which gave his company its name - has already caused controversy by requesting a 3D shop sign formed of various gardening tools.

Local councillor Tony Walsh said the sign looked like a creation from children's TV show 'Blue Peter', while fellow councillor Kevin Painter complained "it looks like a crashed Sputnik," a reference to the Russian satellite.

A spokesman for the council said they would not be launching an official protest against the sign, explaining to Britain's The Guardian newspaper: "We do not intend to embarrass His Royal Highness."

The shop is expected to open later this year.
