Prince Charles' police tribute

2 months ago 15th Jul 14:00

Britain's Prince Charles paid tribute to the police force during a visit to a rehabilitation centre for injured officers.

The prince met officers who had been wounded while on duty at the Police Rehabilitation Centre in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Charles gave a speech to an audience, which included Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair, and said the centre should be "cherished and encouraged".

He said: "The threat so many of the officers are having to face on the streets day in, day out is really quite remarkable and very often alarming.

"It really is a centre of excellence and somewhere that should be cherished and encouraged.

"Great credit should go to all those who work incredibly hard here."

The centre - which offers care including physiotherapy and counselling - costs almost £4million to run every year.
