Prince Charles Climate Change 'delight'

Britain's Prince Charles is proud people have started listening to his views on climate change.

The 60-year-old royal - who has continually warned of the danger of climate change, recently claiming the world has less than 100 months to save itself - claimed even the most hardened sceptics have started listening to his views.

He said: "If now people are beginning to realise perhaps, after all, I wasn't talking complete nonsense, then I am delighted.

"All I have been trying to do is remind people that we have to live and work in harmony with nature if we are to have any chance of surviving on this planet."

Asked if he was annoyed people didn't start listening to him sooner, Charles said: "It is rather depressing. I am not doing this for myself but, as I keep saying, for everyone's children and our grandchildren.

I have been trying to remind people that we have to live and work in harmony with nature if we are to have any chance of surviving on this planet and sustaining the biodiversity and eco-systems on which we intimately depend.

"I have tried to do my best from the position I find myself in, and to make the most of that position in order to bring people together in order to harness the best ideas and the best approaches."

The prince recently returned to England after an official tour of South America, where he was promoting energy efficiency.

He told Britain's The Daily Telegraph newspaper: "For 40 years, or something like that, I've been trying to draw attention to the need to restore balance that I think has been lost. The whole conventional world view has persisted in seeing nature as something that has to be defeated - as if somehow we can operate our economies, and the way we develop, completely independently of the way nature works.

"I have been trying to remind people that we have to live and work in harmony with nature if we are to have any chance of surviving on this planet and sustaining the biodiversity and eco-systems on which we intimately depend."
