Love letters from Britain's Prince Charles are being sold on internet auction site eBay.
The six letters - which Charles was believed to have written to Janet Jenkins, a receptionist in the British consulate in Montreal in the late 70s - were originally bought last week but the buyer failed to pay so they are now on sale on in the internet.
What a pity you can't see my ship
They are being offered by Alicia Carroll, who has closed her Everything Royal business, and she has given a starting bid of £20,000. It is thought they were sent between 1976 and 1980.
In one letter, the heir to the throne talks about HMS Bronington, the Royal Navy minesweeper of which he has taken command.
He wrote: "What a pity you can't see my ship. Very different from an aircraft carrier and much less entertaining, and doesn't go to exciting places like Montreal where exciting ladies lurk behind bushes in order to pounce on unsuspecting naval officers ... !"
Charles also talks about the danger of marrying the wrong person as he offered his sympathies to Janet, following the breakdown of her marriage.
The prince - whose own marriage to the late Princess Diana ended in divorce - said: "I do hope you have recovered from the traumatic business of marriage and divorce in such a short time. Thank goodness you discovered the mistake early enough and did not start a family. Making a mistake like that is, frankly, something which concerns me enormously and I still think my solution of marrying a girl from each Commonwealth country is the best one!"
The auction ends tomorrow (26.03.09).
