Britain's Prince Edward will visit Worcester to meet people affected by last summer's flooding this month. The prince - whose wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, gave birth to their son, James Alexander Philip Theo, on December 17 - will travel to the town of Droitwich on January 25, where he will spend an hour talking with victims of the devastating flash floods last June and those who helped with the massive clear-up operation.Droitwich Mayor Richard Morris has urged people to be at the high street between 1pm and 2pm if they want to meet the royal. He told the regional Worcester News newspaper: "We hope the prince will be able to meet as many people as possible."However, he will be in Droitwich for about an hour, so we felt the best use of time will be to focus on the high street area."Originally I wanted us to tour areas affected but that, unfortunately, is just not practical so we hope people will understand and come to the high street."The visit will be the first royal visit to Droitwich for many years and will hopefully give recognition to all those badly affected by the floods and some of those in the community who have worked so hard to help."
Edward will also visit Droitwich Rugby Club and open the South Bromsgrove High School.
