Prince Harry and Duchess Catherine represented Britain's royal family at the Olympic Games closing ceremony last night (12.08.12).

Harry stepped in after his older brother Prince William had to return to work as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot at RAF Valley in North Wales and accompanied William's wife Catherine to the Olympic stadium.

The pair were spotted cheering on the acts at the special concert at the Olympic stadium, which included the Spice Girls and Take That.

Prince Harry has attended a number of events at the games and watched his cousin Zara Phillips win an equestrian team silver medal for Team GB.

He has also watched competitors in the cycling, rowing and beach volleyball competitions.

Meanwhile, Harry's grandparents, the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, will hold a reception for the 2012 Great Britain Olympic Team in Buckingham Palace on October 23.

The couple will pay tribute to the extraordinary success of the Olympians, who thrilled the nation with their displays over the past two weeks.

The queen played a starring role in the opening ceremony in pre-recorded scenes with Daniel Craig as James Bond, before appearing to parachute from a helicopter into the stadium.
