Robert Pattinson is set to play Britain's Prince Harry in a new movie.
The 'Twilight' actor is among the contenders being lined up to portray the flame-haired royal in a new biopic about his life.
'Harry Potter' star Rupert Grint has also been linked to the leading role in 'The Spare' - which will focus on the divorce of Harry's parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and Diana's fatal car crash in 1996.
It is believed the movie will also feature the prince's training in the British Army and his secret deployment to Afghanistan in 2007.
'The Spare' is to be directed by Peter Kosminsky, who has revealed he feels a "sense of compassion" for the 25-year-old royal.
He explained: "His parents break up in the most spectacularly public way, his mother dies in the most tragic and, again, public way and everything is picked over. He's a man born to no role, the heir and the spare."
Suddenly, he finds himself alongside ordinary guys. He's immersed, in the most acute circumstances, in the real world and finds himself - and for the first time in his life he doesn't feel like a spare part.
Referring to Harry's tour of duty in Afghanistan, he added: "Suddenly, he finds himself alongside ordinary guys.
"He's immersed, in the most acute circumstances, in the real world and finds himself - and for the first time in his life he doesn't feel like a spare part."
Kosminsky has refused to be drawn on which Hollywood star will be cast to play Harry, insisting the script - written by Jeremy Brock - must be finalised before a decision is made.
The British filmmaker told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "My personal approach as a director is that I read the script, and people start to pop into my head.
"I think it's reasonable that we don't want to rule out Americans, although there's a very strong cadre of British actors, too."
The project is still in the initial stages and a screenplay for the movie is unlikely to be finished until the end of the year, with casting set to take place next year.
