Royal News: Prince Harry had admitted the Army is "no joke".
The 20-year-old royal trudged and panted his way round his first demanding Army exercise yesterday.The prince - decked out in "full fighting order" including a webbing welt around the waist and a helmet with the name Wales on it - and his fellow cadets trekked ten miles in 66F heat carrying 25kg packs and SA80 assault rifles.Prince Harry, who has been told to expect no special treatment because he is a royal, had risen at 5am for the exercise in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.At one point during the strenuous eight-hour march the troubled royal, reportedly even tried to catch a few minutes extra sleep while his fellow cadets were allowed a short break.
When asked how he was coping with the gruelling challenge, the sweaty prince puffed: "This is no joke."Last night (31.05.05), a Sandhurst Military Academy source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Harry completed the exercise. But this is bread and butter stuff - things will get a lot tougher from here."
The third-in-line to the throne enrolled at the world renowned academy last month. The party-loving prince said he was looking forward to the rigorous 44-weeks of training.
He said at the time: "I'm really excited. I want to get on with it and do the best job I can do."
