Britain's Prince and Princess Michael of Kent's home will be transformed into a royal exhibition.
The royal couple - who pay £120,000 a year to rent their apartment at Kensington Palace - are having their home turned into an "Enchanted Palace" by the Historic Royal Palaces company, which has teamed up with the Cornish theatre company.
A source at Kensington Palace revealed: "The Kents' Apartment 10 will not obviously be opening its doors to hoi polloi but there will inevitably be a degree of disruption."
In what is set to be a unique exhibition combining fashion, performance, and dazzling spectacle - visitors will be taken into the palace where performers will tell them stories of former royal residents - including the late Diana, princess of Wales.
The couple's payment of rent for their apartment has been the subject of much controversy, after
It was revealed in parliament in 2002 the royal couple paid only a token rent on the five bedroom property.
Queen Elizabeth - Prince Michael's cousin - stepped in to help, but this year, however, the couple have started to pay the £10,000-a-month rent themselves.
