Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine are to be guests of honour at a special Olympic gala dinner.

The royal couple - who, along with Prince Harry, are ambassadors for Team GB and Paralympic GB - will be among the audience at London's Royal Albert Hall next Friday (11.05.12) at the Our Greatest Team Rises black-tie event to celebrate the country's Olympic and Paralympic competitors.

Michelin-starred chef Simon Hulstone has created the menu for the evening, which will be hosted by 'Million Pound Drop' presenter Davina McCall and comedian John Bishop.

Performers at the dinner will include Take That star Gary Barlow - who is currently involved in organising Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee Concert - 'Jealousy' hitmaker Will Young, singing sensation Alfie Boe and 'Britain's Got Talent' winners Spelbound.

Former Spice Girls singer Mel C, who is artist chair of Party to 2012 - a series of official events celebrating the UK's Olympians - will also be part of the event.

The Our Greatest Team Rises event will take place the day after the Olympic torch is lit in Olympia, Greece.

Later this year, William, Catherine and Harry will welcome the Olympic Torch relay to Buckingham Palace on July 26, the day before the Games' opening ceremony.
