Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine celebrated their first wedding anniversary in a small hotel in Suffolk.

Staff at The Crown in Westleton near Southwold were shocked when the royal couple entered the establishment after attending the marriage of one of Catherine's best friends from school in the early hours of Sunday morning (30.04.12).

General manager Gareth Clarke said: "We were made aware that some special guests were arriving but we didn't know just how special.

"It was a lovely family occasion with a relaxed atmosphere and they were both seemed really happy to be in a comfortable environment with friends."

After enjoying a drink in the bar until 1am the pair then retired to the Swan Room of the hotel.

The next morning the couple enjoyed a Full English breakfast.

According to the Huffington Post, he added: "They both ate a cooked breakfast of bacon and eggs before they left in the morning. They're the first royalty we've had staying with us.

"It's not every day you welcome the second in line to the throne."
