Britain's Princess Anne visited the victims of a severe flood yesterday (15.07.09).
The Princess Royal spent hours mingling and talking to the people of Morpeth, Northumberland, many of whom were left homeless following the torrential downpour last September.
The victims and relief volunteers spoke highly of Anne after meeting her.
John Kirkup - who rescued fellow residents using his kayak but on his return home, found his house had been flooded - said: "She was very nice, listened very carefully to what we had to say and made it easy to talk to her.

Peter Morton, who was at home on the day of the flood, said: "I told her about how me and friends moved items upstairs once the street started to flood and helped others in the neighbourhood to reach higher ground.
"I was impressed that she spent quite a bit of time with everybody, which showed how interested she was in what happened."
Sarah Fenwick said this event would help to lift the spirits of people affected by the flood.
During her visit Anne was taken to three stands set up in local gardens to see information and pictures describing the day of the event, the recovery and restoration process and future activities.
