An exhibition dedicated to the late Princess Diana features items chosen by Duchess Catherine.

'Diana: Legacy of a Princess' opens on board historic ship the Queen Mary tomorrow (16.06.12) and will run for at least a year.

Visitors will also be able to see memorabilia and artifacts from other royals, including the duchess - who was formerly known as Kate Middleton - and her husband, Diana's son Prince William.

Among the 2,000 items are many which have never previously gone on display, including a hand-carved bench that was given as wedding gift to Princess Diana and former husband Prince Charles.

Several of Diana's iconic outfits, including a ball gown she wore to the America's Cup Ball, a jewelled evening gown she donned for a Red Cross gala, a cocktail dress and other dresses and accessories chosen by Catherine will be displayed.

The exhibition is expected to attract huge crowds in California this weekend, with a percentage of proceeds going to breast cancer support organisations, including City of Hope.

Queen Mary entertainment director Steve Sheldon said: "We are pleased to find that the image and icon status of Diana is alive and well."
