Spain's Princess Elena has divorced.
Infanta Elena and Jaime de Marichalar - known as Duke and Duchess of Lugo -have legally ended their 14-year marriage, two years after separating, lawyers for the princess have confirmed.
Few details about their divorce have been revealed, but it has been claimed that the couple's children, 11-year-old Froilan and nine-year-old Victoria will stay with their mother, with Jaime retaining visitation rights.
King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia were thrilled when their daughter married Jaime in March 1995 in what was the first royal wedding in Spain in nearly 90 years.
Thousands gathered to watch the couple marry in Seville Cathedral.
Their romance began after the pair met in Paris in 1987, where Elena was studying French literature and Jaime was working in a bank.
When the couple initially separated, it was announced that the separation would be temporary but as time went on it became clear that a divorce was imminent.
