Bodyguards for Britain's Princess Eugenie caused a security alert at Newcastle University when they accidentally set off an alarm.
The 19-year-old royal's protection officers were moving her belongings from her home at Royal Lodge at Windsor to the £96-a-week room she will live in on campus when they bumped into a newly-installed panic button.
The alarm prompted a security alert, which saw several police officers rushing to the halls of residence.
Eugenie - who will share a lounge and kitchen with five other students - started her BA Hons Combined Studies degree in English, History of Art and Politics yesterday (25.09.09).
Pictures of her first day on campus showed her heading to an induction class with a friend from her old school, Marlborough College, with an armed bodyguard standing discreetly behind her.
Clutching her pal's hand, Eugenie appeared to have made an attempt to fit in with her fellow students, wearing an outfit from high street stores Topshop and American Apparel.
