Sweden's Princess Madeleine has been living with her American boyfriend Chris O' Neil since November.

The royal and American millionaire Chris O' Neil are sharing a four-bedroom apartment in New York although they soon plan to move into a new five-bedroom residence in Manhattan which they recently purchased together, Bertil Ternert, court information officer told Sweden's Aftonbladet newspaper.

The couple have been dating for just over a year but the official confirmation of their living arrangements has increased speculation that the pair may announce an engagement soon.

Madeleine, 29, met Chris after she moved to New York in April 2010 following the break-down of her relationship with fiance Jonas Bergstrom after he reportedly cheated on her.

The Swedish royal palace said at the time: "They have decided that the best for them is to go their separate ways."

Madeleine - who has an undergraduate degree in art, history and ethnology - then turned to charity work, working at the World Childhood Foundation, the non-profit organisation founded by her mother, Queen Silvia.
