A streaker who allegedly planned to attack Netherlands' Queen Beatrix was arrested yesterday (21.07.09).

Vegan animal rights activist Peter Janssen is believed to have targeted the royal because she is regularly seen wearing fur in public.

Janssen's lawyer Gerard Spong claims his client didn't deserve to be arrested.

He said: "We think the police took action on the basis of an anonymous, vague tip."

However, the public prosecution department insists the arrest was made after "extensive" testimony. The department seized two computers from homes in Wissekerke and Vught, where Janssen's mother lives.

Janssen is suspected of preparing an attack and possessing a gun. However, Spong has revealed no weapons were found when the properties were searched.

Janssen - who is known as the 'Vegan Streaker' - is due to appear in court to determine if he will be kept in custody today (22.07.09).

The 24-year-old campaigner was arrested earlier this year after releasing 2,500 mink from a fur farm in the southern Netherlands.

He also sparked controversy when he disrupted the filming of Dutch TV programme the Paul de Leeuw show last year wearing only his underpants.

Janssen was previously caught streaking at tennis and hockey tournaments.
