Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter has broken her arm in a riding accident.
Lady Louise - who was a bridesmaid at her cousin Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton last April - is recovering at her Bagshot Park home in Surrey after she fell off her pony at the British royal's estate at Windsor Castle yesterday (11.04.12).
Following the eight year old's accident - which has left her arm in a cast - her mother Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, cancelled an official visit to The Christie cancer hospital in Manchester to be at her side.
But Louise's father Prince Edward continued with the visit when he heard the youngster had not suffered any serious injuries.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: "Lady Louise broke her left arm after falling from her pony while riding at Windsor this morning. She has been treated by doctors and is now resting at home.
"The Countess of Wessex was supposed to go to Manchester today with the Earl but understandably stayed with her daughter."
The queen has been kept informed about Louise's condition and she is planning to visit her granddaughter.
Doctors have reassured Andrew and Sophie that Louise - who is said to have been wearing a hard hat and safety back brace when the accident occurred - will not require any further surgery.
