Britain's Queen Elizabeth is set to feature in an episode of 'Peppa Pig'.

The 86-year-old monarch will be seen donning wellington boots and jumping in muddy puddles in a special edition of the programme, and it will be the first time a human character has appeared in the series.

The show's producer Phil Davies revealed it was done to get children interested in the royal family and the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

He said: "As a British production, it's only fitting that Peppa Pig pays tribute to the queen and we couldn't resist the opportunity to put her into the show.

"We hope that everyone enjoys watching the episode as much as we enjoyed making it and that it gets children into the Jubilee party spirit."

The queen is believed to be an avid watcher of children's television with her grandchildren Lady Louis and James, Viscount Severn, and is believed to be aware of her appearance in the cartoon series.
