Britain's Queen Elizabeth deserves an Oscar for her role in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, according to Will Young.

The 86-year-old monarch made her acting debut on Friday night (27.07.12) by taking part in a pre-recorded segment with James Bond actor Daniel Craig before appearing to parachute into the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London, and singer Will thinks she should be recognised for her efforts.

Will said: "The queen's acting was brilliant. I mean, she deserves an Oscar for that.

"The queen could actually get an Oscar for being the queen, how amazing would that be?"

However, Will - who performed at BT London Live on Saturday (28.07.12) after being a last-minute replacement for Sir Tom Jones - doesn't think the queen will be appearing in a Bond film any time soon as she doesn't need to.

Speaking to Absolute Radio's Polly James live from Hyde Park at BT London Live, Will added: "She's done it, she's done it already. I think it was just wonderful, and what is needed actually I think, because what we're really good at in this country is being so cynical, and I'm a cynical person, but sometimes it's nice to rally everyone together, and I thought that she and everyone in that ceremony did it."
