The model-turned-chef Sophie Dahl also echoed her sentiments, claiming the queen had led the way for classic fashion.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper: "The queen is my icon in general. I have embraced her use of matching shoes and handbag since I was 16. I think she looks marvellous."
The queen wore a floral-print Angela Kelly suit for the event, with a black handbag in a matching design, shoes and gloves.
Other stars to attend included the model Erin O'Connor, designers Jasper Conran, Betty Jackson, Julien Macdonald and Jeff Banks as well as photographer David Bailey.
The monarch also toured an exhibition of clothing which had been created by students from The Royal College of Art.
