Jordan's Queen Noor has reportedly struck up a warm friendship with a self-made billionaire. The 55-year-old royal - the widow of King Hussein - has known financier George Soros, 76, for a number of years but they have only recently started spending more time together. The twice-married businessman - estimated to have a £6 billion fortune - gave a lecture on eradicating global poverty at Oxford University on Sunday (12.11.06) and to the audience's surprise the queen turned up to show her support. One guest told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "She arrived halfway through and sat in the front row absolutely beaming at George."There was no announcement that she was there. I'm sure very few of the 600 guests were aware of who she was."After the lecture, Soros' bodyguards escorted the queen to a car and she a George drove off."Since the death of the Noor's husband in 1999, she has only been linked to one other man, US businessman Jim Kimsey, who co-founded internet service provider AOL.On Monday (13.11.06), it was rumoured that the queen - who has devoted her life to humanitarian work - was to be Soros' guest at a special dinner in London.
However, the queen never showed and sent her apologies at the last minute.
