Royal News: Norway's King Harald has been released from hospital - four weeks after he underwent open-heart surgery. The 68-year-old royal was yesterday (02.05.05) told by doctors he could continue his recovery at the royal lodge on Oslo during the day - but was ordered to return to Norway's National Hospital for treatment in the evenings.Medics said the king, who has been beset by health problems this year, should be allowed to return to his palace because its extensive grounds offer him fresh air and greater privacy than a hospital.Harald is expected to spend the next two months recuperating after undergoing his second major operation in less than two years..Fifteen months ago, the king, who has suffered from a string of ailments over the past 12 years, underwent further invasive surgery to treat cancer of the bladder. The king, who last month appointed his son and heir Crown Prince Haakon to rule as temporary regent in his place, is planning to resume his royal duties in around ten months time. Prince Haakon, who is married to Crown Princess Mette-Marit, now faces a busy period of engagements during the run up to June's Centennial celebrations, after the couple announced they were expecting their second child last week.Prince Haakon will also have to represent the royal family at the nation's annual Constitution Day celebrations on May 17th - unless his father's condition has improved significantly by then.
