Sarah Ferguson's ex-aide has been returned to prison.
Jane Andrews - who was one of the Duchess of York's most trusted members of staff when she worked as a dresser - escaped from East Sutton Park jail in Maidstone, South East England, on Sunday night (22.11.09) but is now back in police custody.
The 42-year-old - who was serving a life sentence for killing her boyfriend Thomas Cressman - had only moved to the new prison last week but reportedly attempted suicide and absconded soon after.
Police have located missing person Jane Andrews safe and well and she has been taken into police custody. She was found in the Maidstone area in the early hours of this morning.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: "Police have located missing person Jane Andrews safe and well and she has been taken into police custody. She was found in the Maidstone area in the early hours of this morning."
It is now yet known how Jane - who was ordered to serve at least 15 years in 2001 - came to be found.
Jane worked for the Duchess of York for nine years until 1997 and had been in an open prison since July after being moved from a women's prison in Surrey.
The family of her victim have since condemned the decision to allow her to be kept in an open prison only eight years into her sentence.
