Britain's Zara Phillips has been left "burnt" by her previous Olympic experiences.

The 31-year-old horsewoman - eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth - is keen to qualify for Great Britain's Olympic eventing team at the London 2012 Games but is wary about it as she had to pull out of both Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

Her husband Mike Tindall said: "I think she has been burnt by the last two Olympics. So I don't think she is putting all her eggs in one basket."

Zara missed the past two Games after her horse Toytown sustained injuries.

However, while she has had her confidence knocked, rugby ace Mike says Zara - who he married last July - will be trying her very best to get selected for the Games in her home city.

He is quoted as telling the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "She is just going to go out there and do her best to impress the selectors."

After an impressive year eventing, Zara had planned to win over Olympic officials at the Chatsworth Horse Trials this month but the event was cancelled due to the course being waterlogged.

A new event for qualifying will be announced in due course, which means the announcement of Great Britain's Olympic eventing team has been put back until next month.

London 2012 kicks off on July 27.
