Britain's Zara Phillips has broken her collarbone after a horse riding accident.

The royal, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, fell off her horse Tsunami II - which broke its neck in the accident and had to be put down - at a riding event in France on Saturday (25.10.08).

She was taken for professional medical treatment at a nearby hospital and is pretty drugged up with painkillers.

The horse is said to have "somersaulted" and "went flying" after a misjudged 15th jump at the Pau Horse Trials.

Zara - who is the world champion three-day eventer - was rushed to hospital where her arm was put in a sling.

A close friend told The MailOnline website: "She was taken for professional medical treatment at a nearby hospital and is pretty drugged up with painkillers.

"She is in quite a lot of pain and is very upset about the death of Tsunami, who was one of her favourites."

The royal - who is 11th in line to the throne - is said to be "devastated" by the death of her beloved mare.
