The 'Light Between The Oceans' star was sat between the 35-year-old royal and Prime Minister Stefan Löfven at a gala dinner that took place during the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's official visit to Sweden last week.

She said: "Well, I've seen 'The Crown'. It was actually the first thing my friend and I started talking about with William. Apparently he's a Game of Thrones fan, I was told."

And the 29-year-old actress confessed she was even too nervous to sip from her water whilst sat next to the Duke of Cambridge, who has four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte.

Talking to Norwegian talkshow host Fredrik Skavlan, she added: "I was sitting there looking around me. I guessed that you were supposed to wait, but I was very hungry. Normally if you're more than ten people you're allowed to start eating, but nobody else did so I held back. I didn't even have a sip of water because I thought 'No, I'll just wait.'"

During the meal, Duchess Catherine - who is expecting the couple's third child - was sat next to 'Mamma Mia!' star Stellan Skarsgård with other top people in the Swedish culture and business worlds joined them.

The dinner was held at the British Ambassador's residence where they enjoyed smoked salmon and quail egg, and a main meal of guinea fowl, stir-fried vegetables and mashed potatoes. Dessert was blackberry soufflé with chocolate ganache and then a cheese platter.
