The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Australia this afternoon (16.04.14).

Prince William, his wife Duchess Catherine and their 8-month-old son Prince George arrived in Sydney this afternoon to cheers from thousands of fans who were waiting for them to begin their tour of Australia.

Having concluded a ten-day tour of neighbouring New Zealand, the royal couple were greeted at the airport by Australian dignitaries, including the Prime Minister Tony Abbott, before being taken to the Sydney Opera House where more of their supporters lined the pathway around the building to catch a glimpse of them as they walked up the iconic building's steps.

William, 31, and Catherine, 32, paused to take in the breath-taking views of the harbour and Harbour Bridge before being guided to their welcome reception inside the opera house.

The family are currently on a three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia, which is Prince George's first official tour, and during their stay down-under they are scheduled to visit the Blue Mountains in west Sydney, meet local wildlife at the city's harbour-side zoo, and travel to Uluru, the iconic Outback sandstone monolith known as Ayers Rock.
