Carole Middleton is reportedly 'embarrassed' of certain members of her family and has refused to let them meet Prince George.

Carole Middleton is "embarrassed" of her family

According to her god-daughter, Joanne Callen, 33, the mother of the Duchess of Cambridge hasn't let them meet her grandson Prince George and behaves as if she is "too grand" to see them.

She told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: "She behaves as if we are not good enough for her now - so she does not need to respond to us or have any care. At the end of the day, I'm not sure what the word god-daughter means any more."

Joanne's mother, Allison - who acted as bridesmaid at Carole's wedding to her husband Michael Middleton in 1980 - added that they feel they have been shunned from her social circle.

She explained: "We're not in her social circle. It's as if we are not good enough now and she's embarrassed by us. She is now even grander than the Queen."

It is also claimed that Carole, 59, cancelled plans with Joanne's grandparents, Ruth and Igor, at the last minute after promising them they could meet the young prince, who turned one last month.

She said: "I still feel sad thinking of them sitting there waiting for the call with a present all wrapped up waiting for them.

"Then Christmas came and it obviously wasn't going to happen. Our family is deeply saddened. There is no need to upset anybody. She should certainly have a good deal more respect for Ruth and Ivor."

The royal family are yet to comment on the claims.
