The Duchess of Cambridge's bodyguard reportedly carries a 9mm Glock pistol and a Taser stun gun at all times.

Emma Probert, 43, a member of Scotland Yard's Protection Squad and a trained mixed martial artist, always carries weapons with her when she's in the company of the royals and is thought to wear a stab-proof vest, too.

The mother-of-one has been in charge of the Duchess' protection since 2010 and is said to have developed a good rapport with her over the years, having been alongside the Duchess at her wedding in 2011 and the christening of Princess Charlotte over the weekend, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.

Prior to that, she was the bodyguard to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, with Emma and her then-partner Karen Llewellyn being dubbed 'Cagney and Lacey' by their former charges.

What's more, Emma was among the first on the scene of the Tavistock Square bus bombing in London ten years ago and was hailed by Camden duty inspector David Nasmyth-Miller when he was awarded an MBE in the 2007 New Year Honours List for his handling of the attack.

He said: "I am delighted and humbled to receive this honour and would like to thank those who worked alongside me on the day, especially my sergeants, and in particular Probert."
