Prince William and his wife Duchess Catherine - who have children Prince George and Princess Charlotte together - are to embark on a tour of India for the first time next spring, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

It's yet to be confirmed whether the Duke and Duchess - who took two-year-old George with them to New Zealand last year - will be taking him and six-month-old Charlotte on the trip.

It is thought that the couple - who tied the knot in 2011 - will visit some of India's most famous landmarks including the Taj Mahal although full details of the tour are set to be released early next year.

News of the upcoming trip comes as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to Britain, which has seen the unveiling of £9 billion worth of commercial deals between the countries.

He has been greeted by David Cameron and had lunch with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Mr. Modi is the first Indian leader to visit Britain in almost a decade.

Prince William's parents, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, visited India together in February 1992.
