The royal couple's first family portrait with Prince George

Chubby cheeks and doting parents are common in most family portraits; this weekend the country sat and cooed over the latest image of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with eight month old baby, Prince George.

With the family dog Lupo completing the perfect snapshot, Kate Middleton and Prince William have given 'Kimye', who recently graced the front cover of American Vogue with daughter North, a run for their money in the family portraits stakes.

Prince George looked content in his proud mothers arms as he stared lovingly into his canine companions eyes. With a tuft of brown hair and adorable knitted blue 'George' jumper, the foursome posed casually for their portrait, the perfect image of their modern approach to royalty.

Across the pond, the Prince and Princess of reality TV caused waves last week with the announcement of their first Vogue cover. Posing in a strapless Lanvin wedding dress with fiance Kanye, Kim Kardashian -who is publically known for her obsession in the royal couple- expressed her delight with the shoot, for the April issue,on Twitter, she tweeted: 'This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can't even breath!'

Kim and Kanye's American Vogue cover

In true Kardashian style the Vogue shoot featured a topless Kanye and a portfolio of sultry gazes. Daughter North joined her parents for their debut in the American fashion bible to complete the glamourous family portrait.

Whilst Kim labels her family as ‘American royalty', the picture of Britain's favourite couple stole the headlines of all the papers this weekend. With rumours rife that Kate could be expecting the couple’s second child, should we expect a new addition to this royal family snap?
