Monaco's Prince Albert has opened up about the loss of his mother, legendary Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, aged 24 and admitted she was "even more beautiful on the inside".

Albert - who was just 24-years-old when the legendary Hollywood actress passed away - has confessed he would have loved to discuss his life with his mother as he got older and insists the screen icon "was even more beautiful on the inside."

He told People magazine: "'(She was) a loving and caring hands-on mom.

"She taught us to be polite and respectful... made sure we had private moments. Any free time she had she spent with us.

"(Her death) left a void. I wanted to talk to her about a lot more things than I had the chance to."

Grace - who married Monaco's Prince Rainier III in 1956, becoming Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco - passed away aged 52 after suffering a stroke at the wheel of her car.

The princess lost control of the vehicle and veered off a cliff, dying later in hospital from injuries sustained during the crash.

Prince Albert's younger sister Stephanie was also seated in the car during the accident but escaped with only minor injuries.
