Britain's Prince Harry has admitted planning the Invictus Games was harder than he initially thought.

The 29-year-old royal has been organising a sporting competition for injured members of the armed forces in a bid to help them through rehabilitation, but he insists the preparations for the event have been a "struggle."

In an hour-long documentary, which airs tomorrow night (09.09.14), he said: "It's been a real wake-up call for me. Me and my big mouth, saying we're going to fill the Olympic Stadium, we're going to do this, do that.

"In my head it seemed very, very easy. In reality it's been a real struggle."

The opening ceremony for the first Invictus Games, which will see 13 nations compete, will kick off on Wednesday (10.09.14), with a performance from Chris Martin and a flypast by the Red Arrows.

The competition will take place at some of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues but with thousands of tickets sold, the flame-haired hunk admits he's still nervous about the success of the event.

He explained: "Oh, of course I'm nervous. There are times when we thought that we're just never, ever going to get to the finish line. If all the venues sell out, then I'm happy because it's all about the atmosphere and making these guys feel really special.

"All they want to do is make sure they're fit enough and ready to put on a show for the public who have been constantly giving money to Help for Heroes and the other Service Charities. People are coming because they want to show their appreciation."

The Invictus Games, which will include wheelchair basketball and indoor rowing, will take place from September 10 until and September 14.
