Prince William

Britain's Prince William has taken a job as an air ambulance helicopter pilot.

The 32-year-old royal - who is second in line to the British throne - is believed to have taken on the position

with the East Anglian Air Ambulance, based near Anmer Hall, in order to stay close to his son Prince George and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.

According to the Mail Online, William will start the £40,000-a-year job in September - which has a flexible four days on, three days off shift pattern - allowing him to remain a hands-on dad to his one-year-old son.

It is believed that Duchess Catherine, 32, and Prince George will join William in Amner for a large part of each week, residing at the Queen's Sandringham estate, as he is keen for the toddler to experience a rural upbringing.

Although Royal Communications have declined to comment on the news, it is thought that Kensington Palace officials will confirm that the Prince is stepping back from his full-time royal duties to pursue his career with the air ambulance service in the next few weeks.
