Britain's Princess Anne paid a visit to the Private White VC in Salford, Manchester, yesterday (24.09.14).

The 64-year-old royal, who is president of the UK Fashion and Textile Association, stopped by the men's clothing factory in Lower Broughton to have a tour of the premises and open the company's new shop.

James Eden, Managing director of Private White, told the Manchester Evening Standard newspaper: "We feel tremendously honoured that we were able to receive HRH The Princess Royal at our factory for the opening of our Manchester store.

"We are very privileged that the princess has taken such interest in our work and the future of British manufacturing. The princess is a fantastic ambassador for the UK garment-making trade."

The Princess - the daughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip - walked around the historic factory, which was founded by war hero Jack White, and saw the process of garment-making from start to finish, including the sketching and designing of the clothes.

As she set off on the tour of the factory, she was introduced to a number of workers in order to get an idea of what they do and how the factory is run.

Paul Alger of the UK Fashion and Textile Association explained: "Her Royal Highness was visibly impressed to see such a fine example of quality British manufacturing in the heart of Manchester.

"She was able to meet and speak with a large number of people involved in the manufacturing process and kindly agreed to mark the official opening of Private White's exciting new factory shop."
