Britain's Queen Elizabeth has delayed an annual party for staff at her Balmoral residence due to the referendum on Scottish independence.

Queen Elizabeth has decided to delay an annual held for staff members at Balmoral

Her Majesty has moved the party back one day, as the focus turns to the outcome of the vote.

An estate member told Mail Online: "It's the most exclusive ball in the world because you cannot go there unless you are staff or, of course, a member of the royal family.

"You might even find yourself dancing with the Queen.

"It's quite a big ceilidh, with pipers and plenty of music, and is usually held this Thursday."

Earlier this week, Alex Salmond, the First Minister of Scotland, said the Queen is impartial on the independence referendum.

He remarked: "I think Her Majesty the Queen is absolutely impartial in this referendum."

Salmond added: "As a constitutional monarch she is completely impartial on these matters, that has been stated many times.

"Nobody seriously, apart from the more frenetic unionist press, would seek to persuade or tell people otherwise. And I look forward to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth being Queen of Scots."
