The UK Prime Minister has apologised to Britain's Queen Elizabeth after he was caught discussing their private phone call.

David Cameron insists he's "extremely sorry" after he breached protocol by talking about a conversation he had with the 88-year-old monarch following the Scottish referendum result last Friday (19.09.14).

He is quoted by the Daily Express newspaper as saying: "Look, I'm very embarrassed by this.

"I'm extremely sorry about it. It was a private conversation, but clearly a private conversation that I shouldn't have had and won't have again.

"My office has already been in touch with the Palace to make that clear and I will do so as well."

David sparked outrage yesterday (24.09.14) after he was accidentally caught on camera telling Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, that the Queen had "purred" with relief after she found out Scotland had voted against independence.

The leader of the Conservative Party, 47, was overheard saying: "The definition of relief is being the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and ringing the Queen and saying, 'It's all right, it's OK'. That was something. She purred down the line."

Members of the Labour Party took to opportunity to slam the Prime Minister for being "disrespectful."

A source said yesterday: "It is disrespectful to let the cat out of the bag."
