Britain's Queen Elizabeth has awarded her personal hairdresser a Royal Warrant.
Ian Carmichael has received the honour after being the monarch's personal hairdresser for 15 years.
When I next saw the queen I told her I'd had my eyes done. She looked at me quizzically and said, 'But Ian, I've never seen you wearing glasses.'
While the queen resides at her Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, Ian travels from his Royston Blythe salon at London's Dorchester Hotel twice weekly to attend her hair, and he accompanied her on his official state visit to Ireland last year.
Ian said the queen is a big fan of his Scottish accent, and that he regularly has conversations with the queen, and recently had laser eye surgery so he could do her hair perfectly for the wedding of Prince William and Duchess Catherine.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: "When I next saw the queen I told her I'd had my eyes done. She looked at me quizzically and said, 'But Ian, I've never seen you wearing glasses.' "
The hairdresser then revealed that he hadn't wanted to wear glasses around the queen, and had instead managed to "get by - everybody's hair took far longer than it should have done."
During his career Ian has also served on cruise liner QEII, and he is thought to be the first hairdresser to the monarch to be given the opportunity to use the slogan "By Royal Appointment" in relation to his business.
