Britain's Duchess of Cornwall struggled not to cry as she hosted a group of severely disabled children at Clarence House yesterday (07.12.11).
Camilla - the wife of Prince Charles - met with 16 youngsters in the Morning Room before inviting them to take a decoration to put on her Christmas tree.
The kids were assisted by her equerry Captain Charles Fraser-Samson who amused the children by letting them try on his bear skin hat and helped them put their decorations on the tree with his sword.
Camilla helped three-year-old Finley Middleton - who suffers from a combination of restricted growth and immune deficiency problems - put a sparkling stocking onto the tree.
She told him: "Here you are Finley, let's do this together."
Speaking afterwards, Camilla said the event had made her feel very "lucky".
She told the Daily Mail newspaper: "It just makes you realise how lucky you are. Honestly, it was all I could do not to cry. It puts everything in perspective, doesn't it?"
After dressing the tree, the children enjoyed mini sandwiches, cupcakes and apple juice before Camilla handed each of them goodie bags filled with Christmas gifts and sweets.
Every year, Camilla invites a group of children from the Helen and Douglas House Hospice and the London Taxidrivers' Fund for Underprivileged Children to tea.
