Sarah Ferguson thinks Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's marriage will be "pure harmony".

The Duchess of York couldn't be happier that her daughter is engaged and shared her excitement at the news on her social media account.

A picture posted on her Twitter account read: "A total embrace of goodness and joy. We love Jack and I am so excited to have a son, a brother and a best friend. Eugenie is one of the finest people I know and so together it will be pure harmony."

The post was captioned: "Total joy!! #engagement @TheDukeOfYork (sic)"

Sarah also shared another picture of the couple on a boat, which she captioned: "They float with laughter and love .. although a boat helps! #engagement #eugieandjack @TheDukeOfYork @yorkiebea (sic)"

And another post referencing water, adding: "I always say that the river flows well to it's destiny because of the guidance of a solid rock #engagement #eugieandjack @TheDukeOfYork @TheDukeOfYork (sic)"

Sarah also shared a candid shot of the couple laughing, writing alongside it: "They make laughter and we feel the joy ... Thank you for the magic ... Jack and Eugie, so proud of you ... #jackandeugie @TheDukeOfYork @yorkiebea (sic)"

Nicola and George Brooksbank, Jack's parents, were also "over the moon" by the couple's exciting news.

They said in a brief statement: "We could not be more delighted with the news of the engagement. We are completely over the moon and are very excited for them both."

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank met seven years ago whilst skiing with friends and they got engaged in front of a volcano on a recent holiday to Nicaragua.
