Before scoring a more enjoyable hit with his 1998 comedy IThe Wedding Singer/I, the former ISaturday Night Live/I goofball played Happy Gilmore, a hot-tempered guy whose dreams of hockey stardom elude him. But when he discovers his gift for driving golf balls hundreds of yards, he joins a pro tour to win the prize money needed to rescue his beloved grandma's home from repossession. The trouble is, Happy's not so happy. He's got a temper that frequently flares on the golf course (he even dukes it out with celebrity golfer Bob Barker), but a retired golf pro (Carl Weathers) and a compassionate publicist (Julie Bowen) help him to perfect his putting game and adjust his confrontational attitude. How much you enjoy this lunacy depends on your tolerance for Sandler's loudmouthed schtick and a shocking number of blatant product-placement endorsements, but if you're looking for broad comedy you've come to the right tee-off spot. Adam Sandler was brill and the gags were woven into the story with ease. The story was touching in parts, although sometimes the plot became slightly complicated. Hockey was his life and because of that, his mother left his father. Happy's Dad died from a puck when it hit him at a hockey game. After this, Happy was sent to live with his Grandma. Happy Gilmore tried and tried all his life to be a hockey player, but there was just one problem - he wasn't any good! The IRS reposess his Grandma's house for not paying taxes for over 10 years and Happy is determined to get her house back. He suddenly discovers making money from hitting the longball in golf for over 400foot. He becomes a golfing legend. The rest of the film is just too hillarious to type, so I suggest you get the film! Dennis Dugan has used his skill very well here, as being able to incorporate the humor part in the game of golf is just remarkable.brIt's about Happy Gilmore ( Adam Sandler ) using his hockey skills to become an expert in golf ( after failing yet again to make it into the hockey team). With his amazing techniques, he manages to show the golf pros the way golf is played at it's best ... I still burst out laughing when I remember some of the scenes from this movie.pTo add some flavor to the movie, we have Happy's grand mom, his girlfriend Virginia of course Shooter McGavin his main competitor on the golf course !pThe movie is great for everyone to watch, it'll surely pep you up !!
