5 out of 5 stars Diesel Power   August 16, 2005
Bradby Shirley Marie (Terni, Italy)
9 out of 12 found this review helpful

In this film Vin Diesel shows that he has acting skills galore! His range of emotions and his facial expressions are really impressive! He is constantly improving.....and the only thing I think he should work on now is his voice. He should use even more tonalities, painting shades of emotion and expressions that go directly to our ears and into our hearts.......then he would definitely be second to none! In this film he is also supported by an excellent Larenz Tate and other actors who help to move the action-filled story along quite nicely.pAlthough Diesel gave us some outstanding moments as far as his acting abilities are concerned the film was hobbled by a seriously confusing plot "directed" by F. Gary Gray! It is obvious that Diesel did the best he could with the what the Gray gave him! Too bad that it appears that something happened in the editing room and some scenes and information that would have helped us viewers to understand things better got left on the cutting room floor!pFor instance: why would "Diablo" destroy his own cocaine empire or blow up his own wife and son? Who or what is Vin Diesel smiling at when he leaves the scene at the end of the film where the drug lord is being arrested again? Is that supposed to be a smile or a nod to his dead wife or a sign of satisfication that he finally got his man!?...perhaps both?!pMaybe it is just me but it also seems to me that some of the action scenes were confusing....in one scene in particular it was not clear who were the "bad" guys and who were working with or for Vin Diesel! If the director edited it that way to create "suspense" well the only thing he created was more confusion!pAnyway I liked this film well enough to buy it to add to my Vin Diesel collection! But ONLY because Vin Diesel is in it and does a fantastic job with his character! Good thing that this Gray cloud has a silver lining: Vin Diesel!

5 out of 5 stars A must see, must have   February 11, 2009
Ms. L. M. Byrne (London,England)
This is Vin diesel at his best. I felt he started to build up his appeal along with movies such as the fast the furious,Pitch black, C of riddick tripple x. but this is most probaly one of the best performances yet. Here he plays a tough no nonsense DEA,Drug Enforcement Agent. An honourable cop, loyal friend, smitten husband. When a massive career bust goes down well,Due to V D chasing down the notourious crime boss, who flees the venue guarded. it is our Hero with his determination to execute his duty to the full, who Detains the Crime lord. A celebration is held At V D's Pad. after an enjoyable party, his guard is lowered. A hit is carried out, V D being the intended target, However the one person he cherishes more than anyone, is shot dies in hospital. Due To A GSW, V D awakes from a coma to learn of the tradegy. he becomes hell bent on searching for the truth, those responsable starting up the biggest plot to exact his revenge. The emotional change V D goes through is displayed with true dramatics, convincingly executed. Recognition is truely earnt. I would Suggest you get it to find out for your self. Action seekers will enjoy the combat sequences, ladies the earlier part reflecting moments they have shared /experienced,as seen here with the true man who displays a warm, passionate loving ora, as illustrated By V D with expertise. 5 out of 5 stars MR DIESEL CAN ACT!!   June 23, 2009
Jason Thorne (England / Oxford)
I have never really been a fan of Van Diesel in films like Triple XXX ,Pitch Black but after watching this the guy can act really well. He played this part with ease after losing his wife in a shoot out at his retreat he stops at nothing to track the killer down it's that simple. The story is good and the acting again is better than most films out there more so from Van Diesel. The action is full on from the word go with some great gun fights this is well worth a view if you like a good action film. If you are a big Van Diesel fan and you are reading this why haven't you watched it I would say it's his best acting role to date by a mile.

4 out of 5 stars DIESEL POWERED   March 3, 2004

MY REASON FOR BUYING THIS WAS BECAUSE IT STARS VIN DIESEL WHO IS POSTIVELY COOL AS F**K!! THE FILM LACKS SOMETHING BUT ITS GOT BRUTAL DRUG LORDS AND REVENGE DRIVEN COPS/GANG-BANGERS....VIN DIESEL IS JUST THE SAME, BIG AND HARD....BUT SHOWS EMOTION REAL WELL IN THIS FILM TOO!! REGRETFULLY THE EXTRAS AREN'T GREAT.

4 out of 5 stars WELL WORTH WATCHING   March 31, 2008
Ms. J. Edwards (Kettering Northants UK)
If this film was ever on general release I must have blinked. It was gritty, well acted with a superb sound track. The main character's transformation from contented married man to grief stricken and enraged cop was brilliant. Excellent mix of characters (particularly menacing were the cartel boss and Diablo). Any looseness of plot was explained in deleted scenes - the scene of the acquisition of the wagon should have been left in. Altogether 110 mins worth watching. br /Bye the way, the reviewer who claimed Diablo blew up his own wife and child obviously lost the plot.
