Amazon.co.uk Review
Jonathan Kaplan (IThe Accused/I) directed this creepy thriller about an outwardly friendly cop (Ray Liotta) who attaches himself to a married couple (Kurt Russell, Madeleine Stowe) whom he helps during a crisis. In short order, he's revealed to be a psychopath who wants Russell's wife, but the film is about more than Liotta's mental state. A bold script and Kaplan's astute direction peel away the layers of masculine identity in the male leads and underscore the painful conflicts good men feel when faced with classic territorial challenges. This is not as profound as IStraw Dogs/I, Sam Peckinpah's long-banned on video home-invasion classic, but it is honest and provocative, until mayhem overcomes the final act. --ITom Keogh, Amazon.com/I

4 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Thriller!   October 11, 2002

Unlawful Entry is a suspenseful thriller with a brilliant cast of Ray Liotta, Kurt Russell and Madeleine Stowe. I should point out that Liotta's performance as a physchotic police officer is one of the best of his roles. What makes the film outstanding is the sense of struggle, intensity and emotion found in both Liottas and Russells characters.brOverall an entertaining thriller with a good storyline, solid acting and lots of thrills and suspence. Highly recommended to anyone who loves thrillers.

1 out of 5 stars Hackneyed thriller   September 28, 2003

What we have here is a typical cliched thriller, the likes of which has been done many times before. br / br /The Simplest of plot outlines; An insidious cop with a screw loose (Ray Liotta)becomes obsessed with someone else's wife and tries to bump off the husband (Kurt Russell). br / br /This film defines predictability. It is one of the most plain and uneventful thrillers I have ever seen. Completely lacking in any kind of style or originality. br / br /Both Liotta and Russell act like they do in every other movie in which they feature. I really can't deride this film enough! If you are looking for a thriller, you won't find it here.
