If you like radiohead, the band that evolves, changes, and is generally 'alive' rather than merely a 'indie rock production line' then you will like this film. On first watch i was not impressed, I found it difficult, unrewarding and close to unwatchable. However it is far from it. I have watched Meeting People Is Easy close to 100 times, because it fits with everything I love about film; it's ability to capture music, mood, emotion, sights, and things that satisfy not only our ears or only our eyes but both. brThe video is NOT just a documentary; it's not meant to be, it accompanies O.K computer especially as a map to where Radiohead came from and where they were going. Thom memorably comments in Meeting People Is East that "O.k. computer is about everything being out of control" as the best explanation told him yet for O.K computer. Schizophrenic visuals of escalators, business men, construction sites and roads emphasise the strangeness of the world Radiohead are in now; to call radiohead pretentious on seeing this is absurd, they're merely documenting what's around them, IT is strange, not them; we see many moments or complete normality amongst band members, jonny being to shy for T.V interviews, Thom bemused about how hyped up radiohead and child like wide eyed wonder as they are taken on a private jet for the first time!brThe new songs sound good; you get to hear first glimpses of several unreleased gems as well as must-see moments like when Thom plays "How To disappear completely" for the first time; interesting to anyone who likes how it turned out, likewise with Life In A glasshouse. brMeeting People Is Easy does what it is supposed to; it is an accompaniment to O.K computer, it is revealing without being intrusive. This is the video that made me want to make films myself, to me the moment when the couple kiss while Meeting in the aisle plays in the background is sublime, the whole video is magic, no rock star clichés just five decent, and interesting people making music that has unexpectedly hit a chord with people. O.K computer is a fantastic document of the world we're shown here and if you like the album you cannot fail to like the film. If this is too weird for you then go listen to oasis, if however you like music and film as more than just background music buy meeting people is easy, give it a few watches, try and think what Thom Yorke is thinking, try and be on a bus going through cities everywhere being sold as a product in a world of award ceremonies, sky scrapers and businessmen you don't want to be a part of. Try and ask yourself what you're doing here. Then go outside, go to your office, go to your gym and go to your out of town ring road supermarket and ask yourself, at the very least, "isn't life just a little bit odd?"

Worth purchasing merely to see the pain and effort which went into making the video for No suprises. Meeting People... reveals a band under immense pressure trying to cope with amongst other things fanatical Japanese fans and endless radio plugs.br Highlights include:br 1.Witnessing the efforts of Thom during the filming of No Suprises only to be dismissed as 'music to cut your wrists by' by a panel enjoying cake (no, really.)br 2.The child-like grin on Thom's face when Jonny talks about getting back into the recording studio after a soul destroying tourbr 3.The band attempting to record an acceptance speech for a music award.p A must for true radiohead fans

This is a fabulous documentary. You really get to understand them that bit more. The highlights for me are spaced out during the film and sometimes only in the background, but they include:br1. Follow Me Around - early version, beautifulbr2. Nude (aka. Dont Get Any Big Ideas) - amazing live version (why have they still not released this?!?!)br3. I Will - Very early version. Performed in a soundcheck. Thoms singing is beautiful. Its nothing like the new version on Hail To The Thief.br4. When they mess up an exceptance speech for some award.br5. Thoms actions when they're playing Creep. ive seen people recreating this the few times radiohead have played creep since :) (at oxford south park gig).br6. Jonnys annoyance at an over the phone interview, heh.pIf you have 20 quid spare, and you love the bends / ok computer era of radiohead, get this. its got some really beautiful clips in.

5 out of 5 stars meeting thom yorke might not be very easy!   January 12, 2004

Thom Yorke is a genius even if he likes to pretend he hates everything about what he does. The only reason i say meeting him might not be easy because the man might not live up to the legend!pTo the film, first things first. If your after a coherent dvd of a live gig with formal interviews you will be very disappointed. However, what you do get is a fantastic insight into life on the road with one of the best bands ever. Its raw, the band never look at the camera, its mainly in black and white and it doesn't lie!I felt so sorry for the whole band after watching it. Here is a band who produce an album they thought would bomb and end up touring it for two years. They have people hyping them up when they know that they will get knocked down. pThe soundtrack to their journey features many great, unreleased or demo form songs such as 'meeting in the aisle', 'life in a glasshouse' and the fantastic 'follow me around'. How they managed to recover, regroup and come back with the fantastic 'Kid A' i will never know. Whatever it was im thankful, this dvd is a reminder of the times and makes for very interesting viewing.

Looking at the back cover I was sceptical about handing over £20 for a documentary, I really wanted live songs. Having got it home however I found that it was absolutely brilliant, and does contain live songs, but not all the way through. pThe montage of imagery of the urban atmosphere of the film goes well with the amazing sound track of the band. Snippets of interviews fill the film, and shows just how much work the band put into the tour, and why Kid A is so low key. Rare footage is abound, which makes it definetly worth while for fans. Lack of chapters is a problem, plus no special features, but to be honest you can watch it all the way through quite happily. pIts simply artistic brilliance of both Radiohead and Grant Gee.
