Amazon.co.uk Review
Expanding their one-joke skit from US television's ISaturday Night Live/I, Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell are Doug and Steve Butabi, the wearers of the rayon suits and Speedo trunks who bob their heads in unison to dance music while unsuccessfully preying on women in clubs. What's funny in a three-minute piece doesn't always get funnier by expansion, but Kattan and Ferrell give it a go with fellow SNL member Molly Shannon as their ambitious neighbour. By day they work in their father's fake-plant store. By night they prowl the club scene after spraying on the cologne in their gauchely decorated bedroom. A fender-bender with Richard Grieco (playing himself) gets them into the popular club the Roxbury, but it's not all good news, as the brothers soon find themselves torn apart. Doug and Steve are pathetic but lovable, mostly due to the actors' talents for self-deprecating humour. All gifted comedians, Kattan, Ferrell, and Shannon obviously feel comfortable around each other, and their love triangle (which prompts send-ups of ISay Anything/I and IJerry Maguire/I) is the funniest joke in this mostly lame comedy. Too bad, because it clocks in at about 80 minutes and could have run on television as a pretty good episode of SNL, which has been known to get a bit lame itself. --IShannon Gee/I

5 out of 5 stars dumb, happy movie - excellent   July 5, 2002

After seeing the trailers for this, I just had to watch it. I wasn't disappointed because it is just so upbeat - from the brilliant, bouncy soudtrack to the peculiar man-boys, Doug and Steve Butabi. Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell are so naturally funny, they bring this comedy into a world of its own. The soundtrack throughout is absolutely fantastic and there are some classic interplays between Kattan and Ferrell.

5 out of 5 stars Top notch comedy with a great musical score.   November 26, 2000

The film follows the struggles of two brothers: Steve and Doug Butabi. They are club hoppers who have the corniest chat-up lines which never ever work. Their dream is to have a club of their own so they can do what they like in it. This seems like an impossible dream until they blagg their way into the highly regarded Roxbury Club. There they mingle with the stars and drink at the managers table. A meeting is set up but when all doesn't go to plan the brothers split up. Will their friendship be resolved? Will their dreams come true? You'll have to watch to find out, but the film features many spoof scenes snatched from other films and a great musical score. You'll laugh and cry when yoou watch this gem of a film. I enjoyed every minute of this movie. The jokes are well thought out and intensely funny, there is never a dull moment. The plot is entertaining but it doesn't take itself seriously and thats a good thing in a movie of this ilk. The DVD features interactive menus, scene access, Dolby Digital 5.1 and subtitles along with a clear widescreen picture. Greatly recommended.

I am not much into comedy's - however, I grudgingly watched this movie, and I can honestly say, that even the most miserable of people will not be able to watch this without many laughs. It is a mixture of humour, truth, jealousy, everyday dreams, and will even put a lump in your throat at the end, when you realise that these mad brothers love each other to the pip. I would highly reccomend this movie, especially if there are a bunch of you - even better. You will NOT be disappointed

For every wannabe, nearly been or star struck nobody comes a Night at the Roxbury. The film is genius, not only are the gags great but Richard Grieco too! You'll love this film. If you love this you'll also love Side Out. Come to Oulton Broad for a Night at the Wherry! Score!

5 out of 5 stars Baby don't hurt me no more   July 9, 2001

Dumb and Dumber meets Human Traffic - they said it couldn't be done, but by doing away with DD's big stars and HT's far too fasionable soundtrack it worked! Just getting to see the 'Paramount' stars spinning in to the sound of Haddaway's 'What is love' was enough for me so if you are into early 90's eurocheese get this in your basket!
