Amazon.co.uk Review IStar Trek V/I left us nowhere to go but up, and with the return of IWrath of Khan/I director Nicholas Meyer, this sixth instalment restored the movie series to its classic blend of space opera, intelligent plotting and engaging interaction of stalwart heroes and menacing villains. Borrowing its subtitle (and several lines of dialogue) from Shakespeare, the movie finds Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) and his fellow Enterprise crew members on a diplomatic mission to negotiate peace with the revered Klingon Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner). When the high-ranking Klingon and several officers are ruthlessly murdered, blame is placed on Kirk and crew. The subsequent investigation, which sees Spock taking on the mantle of Sherlock Holmes, uncovers an assassination plot masterminded by the nefarious Klingon General Chang (Christopher Plummer) in an effort to disrupt a historic peace summit. As this political plot unfolds, IStar Trek VI/I takes on a sharp-edged tone, with Kirk and Spock confronting their opposing views of diplomacy and testing their bonds of loyalty when a Vulcan officer is revealed to be a traitor. With a dramatic depth befitting what was to be the final movie mission of the original Enterprise crew, this film took the veteran cast out in respectably high style, with the torch being passed to the crew of IStar Trek: The Next Generation/I in the following movie, IStar Trek: Generations/I. --IJeff Shannon, Amazon.com/I

Great Film, no real extras June 17, 2001 cr.dutton@virgin.net 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This has to be the best first generation Star Trek movie. The crew are beginning to look their age but the fast pace supplied by Nicolas Meyer directing means they have to leave their zimmers in the wardrobe. The soundtrack is also one of the best I've heard on a Star Trek movie both musically and also the excellant sound effects in Dolby Digital. All this said again we see poor provision of extras by Paramount. A few trailers are all we get for the DVD premium price. And althought the picture has great colour statuation and is very sharp the disc is not anamorphic to give it that ultimate edge ... Still it'\br /s the movie that counts and this is a Sci-Fi classic.br /br /br /
How Star Trek Should Be February 21, 2003 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This film is great classic Star Trek. It is the last film to star the original Star Trek crew, and boy they go out with a bang. This is the best Star Trek film since Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. This is not surprising as this film has the same director. Kirk and the rest of the Enterprises crew may be looking a bit old but they can still pull their punches. The story line is the best type there is in Star Trek. Without spoiling the plot, Kirk is put into a no win situation and the rest of the film is Kirk and the Enterprises crew desperately attempting to win from this no win situation. Naturally they do win, but the film is nerve wracking until the last possible moment. An excellent film for the Classic Star Trek crew to bow out with and a must see film for any Star Trek fan.
'I've Never Trusted Klingons...and I never will' September 10, 2006 Mr. A. E. Hall (Liverpool, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Star Trek VI is a fitting conclusion to the original cast and crew. It provides thrilling drama and action and helps bridge a little of the gap between the original and the Next Generation.

br / The explosion of a Klingon moon has crippled the empire of the great alien warriors, leading to the unthinkable - peace between the Klingons and the Federation. The USS Enterprise is sent to escort an Imperial Klingon cruiser to Earth. Disaster strikes when the Enterprise appears to fire on the vessal - not ordered by Kirk or anyone on board. The Chancellor aboard the vessel is assassinated and Kirk and McCoy beam aboard to help and are promptly arrested. What follows is political intrigue, rebellion and deceit as Kirk and 'Bones' try to escape from the hell where they are imprisoned and Spock leads the Enterprise to defy Star Fleat to rescue them and determine just who plotted against the Klingons, how and why. The film ends with a spectacular battle, a last gasp rescue and a glorious shot of the Enterpise disappearing into the distance, bringing to an end the greatest quest of the greatest ship in film history.

br / Always exciting, well written and acted, the Undiscovered Country is a superb film, well worth watching for Trekkies and the casual fan alike and a great way to close the series. Live long and prosper.
Da best ST movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! June 18, 2003 badboy69 (leeds, uk) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
This film is, and prob will always be, the best ST movie ever. It has everything you could wish for in a film but im not gunna go into that because if you dont know then you should watch the movie and find out. I cannot stress enough how much better this movie is than the others. The best bit is the fight at the end of the film ( you know what im on about). A must buy for any serious movie fan.
The best of Trek June 10, 2008 T. R. Alexander (East Anglia, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Undiscovered Country, the sixth and final Star Trek film staring the original crew is probably my favourite out of all the films. After a disaster threatens their homeworld, the Klingon Empire is looking to make peace with the Federation. With fractions on each side opposed to peace, it isn't long before things start to go belly-up leading to the Klingon High Chancellor is assassinated, Kirk and McCoy are arrested and a new and dangerous ship stalks the stars.

br /As I have said, this is my favourite of all the Trek films and this has much to do with the good script and the great performances by the cast, especially Christopher Plummer who plays General Chang the Shakespeare quoting Chief of Staff of the Klingon Empire who is probably my favourite Klingon Character from anywhere in the Trek universe. The graphics are typical of time the film was made but there are a couple of continuity issues toward the end, i.e. battle damage disappearing from scene to scene, but again this is typical of most films made during the early nineties. The Undiscovered Country is a great film and I can watch it again and again without tiring of it.
