5 out of 5 stars 5 stars for THE STAR of the stars ; - )   February 20, 2003

Wow! What a strange movie... I'm a big fan of JC and I was very curious to see him as a 'manga character' and in the end I'm satisfied.brThis is not a movie... well, better call it animemovie; the special effects, the sounds and the acting, everything is at his extreme. JC is hilarius and brisk as always... it is just unusual to see him chasing girls every minute!brOf special notice: the "street fighter" sequence (JC is dressed like Honda and then as Chun Li... ehm...) and the fighting sequence JC vs Richard Norton

5 out of 5 stars Typical Jackie Chan, past his peak but still the best.   March 16, 2001

Jackie takes on the role of a Manga character City Hunter who is sexist, always hungry, a big womanizer, and a great fighter. The humour in the film is very broad and some of it doesn't translate well. The action is superp with a great skateboarding sequence and a really good end fight. Overall a very good film with something for almost everyone done with typical Jackie Chan finesse.

5 out of 5 stars Great Action and Comedy   June 20, 2001

When Mr Chan was on about combining action and comedy, I guess this explaines it all. A great action comedy (concentrated on the comedy mostly) is about a super detective(jackie)who has to rescue a daughter of a very important person in Hong-Kong. pI dont want to give the plot away to those who havent seen it yet, because its a movie that contains alot of surprises and jokes.pI definetly recomend it!, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it, cos I sure did....

5 out of 5 stars as funny as dumb and dumber   September 4, 2001

As my title suggests i found this film very funny, also as the title suggests the taste of humour is quite specialised; if you hate wacky, off-beat comedy that is reminiscent of japanese odditiys then stay away. The character played by jackie is a manga comic strip hero so the film is portrayed in a comic book manner with japanese humour, the visual comedy is unparalleled in any film and until i saw rush hour 2 i thought this was chans funniest film ever. I really cannot reccomend this to highly, i know that a lot of hard core chan fans disliked this because of its heavy use on wires and special effects but it helps add variety to your chan collection and the DVD extras are really good and are presented superbly. Picture quality is immaculate and sound is good too, just watch the popo act in the middle of the film and you see what i mean. Overall this is an excelent package and people coming off a rush hour 2 high should definitly check yhis out, one more thing watch it with the dubbing on; it really adds to the comical effect.
